JSM (the Joint Statistical Meetings) is the largest gathering of statisticians and data scientists held in North America.

It is also one of the broadest, with topics ranging from statistical applications to methodology and theory to the expanding boundaries of statistics, such as analytics and data science.

JSM also offers a unique opportunity for statisticians in academia, industry, and government to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration. Beginning statisticians (including current students) are able to learn from and interact with senior members of the profession.

R/Pharma is an ISC working group ( under the R Consortium. The conference is envisioned as a relatively small, scientifically & industry oriented, collegial event focused on the use of R in the development of pharmaceuticals. The conference will cover topics including reproducible research, regulatory compliance and validation, safety monitoring, clinical trials, drug discovery, research & development, PK/PD/pharmacometrics, genomics, diagnostics, immunogenicity and more. All will be discussed within the context of using R as a primary tool within the drug development process. The conference will showcase the current use of R that is helping to drive biomedical research, drug discovery & development, and clinical initiatives. (Note that topics related to the use of R in hospitals/clinics for patient care by clinicians, doctors, and researchers will likely be the focus of the upcoming R/Medicine conference.)

The conference will be a single track conference consisting of keynotes from renowned industry practitioners to key R developers to leading academics, pre-conference workshops and full-length presentations as well as a number of shorter, highly-energetic lightning talks.

This two-day course will provide an overview of using R for supervised learning. The session will step through the process of building, visualizing, testing, and comparing models that are focused on prediction. The goal of the course is to provide a thorough workflow in R that can be used with many different regression or classification techniques. Case studies on real data will be used to illustrate the functionality and several different predictive models are illustrated.

The course focuses on both high-level approaches to modeling (e.g., the caret package) and newer modeling packages in the tidyverse: recipes, rsample, yardstick, and tidyposterior. Basic familiarity with R and the tidyverse is required.

This course is taught by Dr. Max Kuhn a Software Engineer at RStudio. He is the author or maintainer of several R packages for predictive modeling including caret, Cubist, C50 and others. He routinely teaches classes in predictive modeling at rstudio::conf, Predictive Analytics World, and UseR! and his publications include work on neuroscience biomarkers, drug discovery, molecular diagnostics and response surface methodology. He and Kjell Johnson wrote the award-winning book Applied Predictive Modeling in 2013.

SADIO organizes this event that brings together the Latin American Artificial Intelligence community in general and Argentina in particular in a forum to exchange ideas, experiences and research results among teachers, researchers, students and business representatives. The event is part of the 47th JAIIO and will be held at the Faculty of Engineering – University of Palermo from September 3 to 7, 2018 with the co-organization of the Argentine Association of Artificial Intelligence. Original contributions are sought in the different areas of Artificial Intelligence, both from academic research, as well as industrial and business applications that have an impact and provide lessons in their development.

In order to bring the academic and professional fields closer, companies, professionals, teachers and researchers are invited and encouraged to contribute, in addition to the traditional format of research work, with specific applications, case studies, specific tools, transfer activities, technology and reports of practical experiences related to the themes of the symposium. This type of work can be sent in any of the modalities mentioned below.

Brought to you by the Yale School of Public Health Biostatistics Department and the R Consortium

The goal of the R/Medicine conference is to promote the use of the R programming environment and the R ecosystem in medical research and clinical practice. R, the open source language for statistical computing and data visualization, has also become an effective tool for enabling reproducible research and the communication of scientific knowledge. In addition to showcasing novel tools, algorithms and methods for analyzing medical and clinical data. We hope the conference will provide a forum for collaboration within the community.

Conference talks will address the use of R in medical applications from Phase I clinical trial design through the analysis of the efficacy of medical therapies in public use. Topic areas for R/Medicine include: clinical trial design, the analysis of clinical trial data, personalized medicine, the analysis of patient records, the analysis of genetic data, the visualization of medical data, and reproducible research.

The Enterprise Applications of the R Language Conference (EARL) is a cross-sector conference focusing on the commercial use of the R programming language. The conference is dedicated to the real-world usage of R with some of the world’s leading practitioners. Plus, networking opportunities provide an opportunity to network with speakers and fellow delegates.
