We currently only provide a pre-built binary for the 64-bit architecture. Before installing RStudio Connect, you’ll need to install R. We recommend building R from source rather than using your system’s package manager in order to ensure that the version of R installed on your server won’t unexpectedly change. You can build R from source by following these instructions.

Once you’ve installed R, execute the following commands in a terminal window to install gdebi (which is used to install RStudio Connect and all of its dependencies) and RStudio Connect.

$ sudo apt-get install gdebi-core
$ wget https://s3.amazonaws.com/rstudio-connect/rstudio-connect_1.6.8.2-12_amd64.deb
$ sudo gdebi rstudio-connect_1.6.8.2-12_amd64.deb
